4WD Geikie Gorge and Aboriginal Heritage Adventure
Geikie Gorge is considered one of the great marvels of the Kimberley and your experience at Geikie Gorge is brought to life with a memorable Aboriginal cultural tour providing a fascinating insight into the people and prehistoric geology surrounding this treasured landform.Travel to Geikie Gorge by luxury 4WD vehicle with an experienced and professional driver/guide who gives an expert local commentary.
Breaking en route for morning tea (own expense), arrive at Fitzroy Crossing and head out to Geikie Gorge for a picnic lunch (picnic lunch and afternoon tea are included in the tour price).
Local Bunuba Aboriginal Cultural guides (GG1) host the 2 hour Darngku Heritage Cruise and provide a fascinating insight into Aboriginal culture, Dreamtime stories, bush tucker, animal tracks, traditional plant use and cultural practices. Alternatively you can take a 1 hour cruise with CALM National Park Authority (GG2).
On both tours you see geological sea fossils, crocodiles, exotic birds and other native animals.
On the journey back to Broome we stop for dinner (own expense) and arrive in Broome at approximately 10.30 pm.
Tour Dates
The starting date for this tour will depend upon road conditions in the remote Kimberley region (usually between April and November).The Geike Gorge Experience with the 1 hour CALM cruise will NOT operate in November.
The 4WD Vehicles and Drivers
All 4WD vehicles include extra large, sheepskin-covered, reclining seats, large panoramic windows for sight-seeing, air-conditioning, restrooms, chilled and hot water dispensers, television and videos. All 4WD vehicles are fitted with seatbelts, advanced braking and suspension systems for a smooth ride, and seat a maximum of 23 or 27 passengers. The driver/guides are an elite group of highly trained, environmentally aware professionals.
