Description

Lake Mountain Alpine Resort

Lake Mountain is Australia's premier cross-country ski resort. The winter season extends from June to the long weekend in October. The terrain is rolling and offers both easy and hard skiing.

Lake Mountain has always been a family friendly destination, but family friendly services have improved, with the provision of children's activities and there is also a nursing mothers change room in the amenities block.

Lake Mountain is not only Melbourne's closest resort (120 kms) for a day in the snow with the family, it is also the most cost effective. Lake Mountain also has the latest snow making technology. Click through to our website for the weather, the need for chains and further details.

Skiing

Skiing is the best way to see alll that Lake Mountain has to offer. Over 37 kms of groomed trails from beginner to advanced, capture the essence of the alpine environment.

Tobogganing

A family favourite - grip on and head down one of the seven toboggan runs.

Snow Tubing

Snow tubing is another great way to have fun with the family in the snow. No experience is necessary to enjoy the thrill of sliding down a run on a snow tube.

Sled Rides

The newest way to get around the mountain - this motorised ride lets you see the alpine world with little effort and is great fun.

Snow Play

Lake Mountain has an abundance of snow for building a snow man or throwing snow balls.

Snow Shoeing

If you are not inclined to ski, you can walk on the trails if you wear the correct snow shoes. Explore the reaches of our winter wonderland and pristine National Park at your own pace.

Summer Recreation

Out of the snow season, the ski trails become great walking trails and challenging mountain bike rides. Click through to our website for further details on the trails at Lake Mountain Resort. The resort has a diverse range of alpine plants flowering in summer, as well as a variety of small mammals. Our website also gives more information on the trees and shrubs, ground covers and herbs and daisies and orchids that abound in this beautiful alpine environment.

Within easy reach of Melbourne, Lake Mountaine is great for day trips, picnics or just relief from the summer heat - and offers the visitor an opportunity to discover a unique alpine environment.

At Lake Mountain most skiing tends to be done on packed or groomed snow. This is where the snow is flattened to provide a firm snow base for skis to glide further and not sink.
The opening and closing times of the groomed trails are shown above - you can ski on the groomed trails for 11 hours a day!
