Description
Bertoni was created by two brothers, Bert & Tony, Italian descendants, after they left their senior corporate careers. Passionate about food, coffee and people, their aim is to share the assagi (flavours) that have been passed down through generations of their family.
Maria, their mother was born in Naples and has had the greatest influence on the food they eat and cook. She taught them that the key to great tasting Italian food is simplicity and to use the freshest ingredients.
Their Sicilian father continued his Italian farming background in Australia by providing a constant source of fresh ingredients from his backyard garden. Bert and Tony were taught that "a life celebrated with passion is a life enjoyed".
Sugo Del Giardino - Fatto a mano (home made) by their parents using the recipe that has been handed down through the family for generations, the Sugo Del Giardino is heat sealed after being boiled several times. This pasta sauce is like no other you would have tasted with it's simple flavours and dynamic taste and has been featured in Sydney Morning Herald "What's Hot".
Pasta di Semola - the world's best selling varieties of dried pasta are available. For a fabulous quick Italian dinner, just top with their Sugo Del Giardino and some grana padana parmesan cheese.
Olio di Campagna - great on salads, lighter meals and for dipping, this extra virgin olive oil from Griffith is very special with its strong fruit, cut grass and black pepper chacteristics.
Basalmic Vinegar del Modena - with its grapes from the Emila Romanga region, aged in wooden casks, this vinegar is perfect for dipping and salads.
Crostoli alla Vaniglia (sweet knots) & Biscotti di Mandorla (delicate thin almond bread) - ideal served with a dessert wine, tea or espresso.
Crostini con Aglio & Erbe (garlic & herb) - add to salads or soups (best toasted or fried until cris & brown)
Sicilian Olives - unique, distinct chewy, grassy flavour.
