The Service: Attentive, polite and good humoured

The Summary: Proprietor, Katherine Hsiao and Rebecca Luo have done marvellous work in maintaining this popular suburban restaurant and ensuring that quality, solid dishes are still being provided to locals at very reasonable prices.

It’s a known fact that delightful food in a warm, inviting setting can make you feel like a King (or Queen). Dynasty Chinese Restaurant made me feel more like an Emperor! A smorgasbord of traditional Cantonese dishes with an understanding of the Western palate tantalised my tastebuds. Stuffed duck is one of the few specialties of the house, as recommended by jovial, attentive Katherine Hsiao and Rebecca Luo, and is a winning addition to their menu. Chefs Simon Lee and Stephen Luo manage to capture the rich texture of the duck without drowning out its flavours with sauce, and work magic with the Mongolion lamb and Mushrooms with Chinese Bak Choy. No wonder they are favourites with regular customers.

What tickled my fancy is this establishment’s flexibility when it comes to preparing food and their doting service. They are very accommodating in terms of functions and with food (if you want special orders just give them a call beforehand and they’ll organise dishes for you, for example, steamed whole fish or other seafood. Gluten-free options and healthier eating (reduced oil and salt on request).

This kind of dining experience is a treasure in Turramurra, bringing the scents and gustatory delight that Asia has to offer right to your front door (almost). Give it a shot if you haven’t done so before, after all, we can always do with feeling like royalty.
