Description
Platypus Cottage and its setting
The old brick dairy has been modernised into a delightful cottage for two, with all modern conveniences. The historic flavour of the building has been maintained, with the oddly positioned windows remaining in their original position. The exposed beams are also the originals from the old dairy.Platypus cottage is the perfect spot for a couple seeking a peaceful escape close to nature. Perched on top of a ridge, Platypus Cottage has views in all directions and is surrounded by acres of rolling hills and valleys.
Beautifully decorated, Platypus Cottage provides luxury accommodation. The slow combustion wood fire (wood supplied) provides ample warmth for those chilly winter days and nights, as well as a cosy atmosphere. Much of the furniture in the cottage is locally crafted from red box from Mudgee.
The bedroom overlooks a wide valley of the farm. The queen sized bed has an electric blanket and doona. An additional heater ensures comfort. All linen is supplied.
The oregon kitchen is a delight to cook in. The large country table handcrafted from stringy bark milled on the property and a Queensland maple sideboard for storing the tableware are in keeping with the historical ambience of the cottage. Modern conveniences include a stainless steel fridge-freezer and Smeg oven and cook top.
The modern bathroom has a shower and vanity. For that extra touch of luxury, there is a electric towel dryer. You can also indulge in the luxurious cedar lined dry Scandinavian sauna.
A TV, video and CD player are provided. A phone allows you to make local calls or to answer an incoming call. The bathroom contains a Bendix washing/drying machine. The cottage also has ironing facilities.
