The Cottage and its setting

Possum Cottage is a romantic getaway for one or two couples in a beautifully restored turn of the 19th century farmhouse situated in an idyllic rural setting on a magnificent 700 acre Angus stud cattle farm, The Pines Pastoral. The property was once owned by the Moss family of Moss Vale.

Sit back and enjoy the sweeping rural views from the broad jarrah verandah. Views take in the extensive Morton National Park as well as the green, rolling hills and valleys of the surrounding farmland.

Age old trees, including conifers, English oaks and an original plum tree, complement the setting.

The Interior

As soon as you walk inside, you will be charmed by the delightful atmosphere that has been created, from the warm, golden cypress floorboards to the crackling winter fire that invites you to curl up on the couch in front of it (a supply of wood is provided).

Create a feast in the open plan kitchen and then enjoy a meal on the large country dining table that was handcrafted from stringy bark milled on the property. Other beautifully crafted timber pieces can be found throughout the cottage, including the mountain ash coffee and side tables.

The master bedroom has a feature wall made from wide timber panels, and is in its original condition from the early cottage. The queen beds are also inviting, with electric blankets and doonas.

The shared bathroom continues the charming, country look of the cottage, with its recycled oregon timber. You can also indulge in the luxurious cedar lined dry Scandinavian sauna.

A separate laundry has a Bendix washer-dryer machine.

Local Attractions

Possum Cottage is close to all the wonderful villages of the Southern Highlands. It is five minutes from Moss Vale - visit the many antique shops, restaurants, cafes, gift, food & craft shops & nursery. Other quaint villages include Bundanoon, Bowral, Berrima, Fitzroy Falls, Burrawang and Robertson.

A stay at Possum Cottage is a must for bushwalkers, birdwatchers, photographers and nature lovers. There are many lovely walks, on the Pines Pastoral, in nearby Morton National Park and in the local district. These include walks to the spectacular Carrington and Fitzroy Falls - watch the lyre birds & many other native birds and animals. There are also several local cool climate vineyards, with tours & tastings.

Location

Possum Cottage is ideally located in a beautiful area of the picturesque Southern Highlands. It is only 1.5 hours from Sydney, 2 hours from Canberra, 30 minutes from the coast (Kiama) and 45 minutes from Wollongong.
