Description
Crackenback Guesthouse
Woolshed inspired, the guesthouse was designed in the early 1980s by acclaimed Australian architect Glenn Murcutt. Today, the guesthouse offers a special experience, blending country charm with award winning service. No matter what the season, there's always a warm welcome. In winter, the farm is well located for skiing, being within easy distance of both Thredbo (15 minutes) and Perisher Blue, two of Australia's premier ski resorts. It is only five minutes from the Perisher Blue Ski Tube. In summer, the farm forms the perfect base for fishing, water sports and golf. Lake Jindabyne is ideal for sailing, wind surfing and water skiing. Nearby lakes and streams offer trout fishing while horse riders enjoy the alpine tracks. Kosciuszko National Park beckons bush walkers to reach the top of Australia at 2227 metres. There is a 9-hole golf course only a short drive away. Throughout the year the region hosts numerous cultural, musical and sporting events.Crackenback Farm offers superbly decorated, cosy, country style bedrooms - all with ensuite. There are seven ensuite rooms (some with spa). Downstairs, rooms each have king or queen beds, while in the loft, there are two or three singles. The loft rooms are great for families, but the lofts are only suitable for children of 5 years of age and over. There are cosy lounge areas with huge open fire places, a fully licensed cosy bar (NO BYO available), featuring Australia's largest variety of Schnapps and a great selection of fine wines. There is also a billiards room with a full sized billiard table. You can relax weary muscles after a day of mountain activities in the sauna and indoor heated pool. There is also a tennis court. Rates include a freshly baked afternoon tea and a full country breakfast with our home-made jams and free range eggs.
All dinner packages include pre-dinner nibbles, coffee & chocolates. Dinner is served in the lodge or, on occasion, á la cate in the award winning Crackenback Cottage restaurant on the property (for further details click on 'Crackenback Restaurant' from the map below.
We have friendly, efficient staff with good local knowledge. There are special rates available to groups and Crackenback Guesthouse is popular for group workshops and team-building conferences. Crackenback Guesthouse is a perfect spot to spend a few days for a group of friends - book the whole of the guesthouse (7 rooms) and receive a champas on arrival, 5% discount on your stay and late check out for everyone.
